Paperwork done, but . . .

We received our final piece of paperwork yesterday. I had prayed yesterday morning that we would get some encouraging news, so while we are still waiting to see what happens before sending in all our paperwork, it is encouraging to have it all completed.

One office, MOWA, who is in charge of writing recommendation letters for families to pass court in Ethiopia, announced this week that they are going to cut the amount of letters they write each day by up to 90%. You can read the full announcements and updates in the previous blog post. If this does in fact stay in effect, it will mean that the adoption process from Ethiopia will take years. For now, we are waiting to see if this decision will be overturned and adoption return to their previous timeline of 1-1.5 years. If so, great! We'll send in our paperwork and payment and be on our way. If not, we face the decision to continue in the Ethiopia program, knowing that we may be waiting for a years, or switch to adopting from a different country.

We do know God is calling us to adopt. We have thought it was Africa, and after researching the African countries that are currently processing adoption, Ethiopia specifically. Please pray that God would make His will clear and that we would be patient while we wait.

We are waiting for some answers from our agency regarding financial ramifications of switching countries and/or switching agencies.

We do know switching countries would involve editing all our paperwork, but we, thankfully would not have to begin from scratch. We are still hopeful and praying that the decision made by MOWA will be overturned.
